General Description
Aquology develops and supplies intensive breeding systems and production facilities for fresh water lobsters.
Aquology's facility, established on a 2,500 square-meters property, is an intensive, water-recycled, automatic breeding system including a hatchery and a grow-out subsystem.
The production environment is located inside an environment-controlled closed facility in which all relevant aspects are monitored and controlled, keeping the crustaceans in optimal conditions to ensure a continues production of high quality, Red-Claw juveniles.
The Concept
Aquology's concept is based on recycled water systems in modular and fixed water tanks in which water is being treated, cleaned, aerated and reused. Each tank is filled with high-condensed artificial sheltering systems, manufactured by Aquology, to allow a high-quality production of Red-Claw.
The growth concept allows us to pre-plan the timing of each harvest in each tank in accordance with the marketing needs. Each set of tanks are built as an independent closed unit, therefore physically and biologically isolated from its whereabouts, and thus are not affected by other independent stets of tanks or the by the surrounding environment.
The system is designed to optimizing the needed resources, enabling intensive production of crayfish per cubic meter. Due to the control over the internal facility climate, water quality, shelter condensation, exposure to sunlight, feeding and other relevant breeding and feeding aspects, the system is built to provide continuous supply of high quality crustaceans all year round.
According to Aquology's concept as developed and implemented in its production facility, the production area consists of the following major components:
- Several independent sets of water systems
- Central aeration system
- Central heating system
- Decentralized Mechanical and biological filters
- Decentralized pumps and sensors for each set of tanks
- Decentralized Heat exchangers sub systems
The Benefits
Aquology's concept dramatically improves the average number of harvested adult crayfish per cubic meter in comparison to traditional methods in which the crayfish are stocked in earthen ponds and river dams.
Aquology's system reduces the negative effects of the cannibalistic nature of the fresh water crayfish and thus increases survivability, allowing harvesting larger amounts of items and therefore generating much more revenues.
